The General Chapter came to a close (2007.11.01)

On 20th of September, the General Chapter of Daughter of St. Paul came to a close, which was held in Ariccia, Rome from 20th of August. Thank you for all of you who prayed and supported for us.

General Chapter had been progressed calmly, which could be an influence of the meditation session at the beginning of the General Chapter.

Looking back on past 6 years and listening all reports from each monastic orders came from all over the world, and so we had a clear grasp of the current situation. Afterward, the direction for next 6 years of monastic orders were discussed, followed by the highest priority. It also discussed about subject that need to be considered. And finally, the election of new reign was held.

Superior-General was reappointed and so this is her second term. Two general chancellors were also reappointed and four were newly elected. They were elected from all over the world. Superior-General is a Brazilian, general chancellors are Italian, Filipino, Colombian, another Italian who are working in Africa, and Japanese.

At the end of the General Chapter, we visited the Antonio Pio Chapel, where St.Paul Basilica and the founder and first Superior-General were rest, to report that the document of General Chapter was completed. The document will be the guideline for next 6 years.

From 52 countries, sisters between 30 to 80 years of age were gathered in homely atmosphere. Each country organized Mass and prayer every time, and so it was very multicultural ritual.

It was hard to say good-bye after spending one month, yet it was able to know to have the international monastic order.

Now, we are all going back to each country, and report what was discussed. And each country will make a concrete plan. Please pray for us for our further step continually.
